Types of Loft Conversion
Velux Conversions:
Normally the least expensive room in the roof using is one using Velux Windows. If you have sufficient space and headroom you can create a room in the roof that does not externally alter the roof line. The usable space however, will be determined by the amount of head room within the pitch of the roof. Remember when you stand in your loft area the finished floor level will be higher than the existing level by about 6 inches (150mm) so this may limit usage in certain areas of the room. Dormer Conversion:
If you want to create a conventional room with straight walls and a level ceiling then the answer is a Dormer conversion. This type of conversion is a little more expensive, because it alters the roof pitch over a certain area, but it does offer the chance to maximise your floor space and have a normal shaped room, with bathroom if desired.
